Chicago Sky’s rookie sensation, Angel Reese, has etched her name in WNBA history by achieving a record-setting 13 consecutive games with a double-double. This milestone was reached during a recent match against the Seattle Storm, where Reese contributed 17 points and 14 rebounds despite her team’s 84-71 loss.
Reese’s achievement surpasses the previous record of 12 consecutive double-doubles held by WNBA legend Candace Parker, achieved across the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
“I’m just trying to be consistent for my teammates, doing whatever I can to help my team,” Reese remarked modestly. “I think I didn’t do enough tonight, but just being able to be there for my teammates and knowing that I have a job to do every day no matter if I’m a rookie or a vet.”
First-year head coach Teresa Weatherspoon expressed her admiration for Reese’s consistency, stating, “She might be surprising herself, but she’s not surprising me. It’s something that she can do because it’s something that she puts the work in to be able to do. And it’s a will and want-to… it’s awesome to see the work that you have to put in to be able to do this.”

In just 20 games, Reese has also achieved remarkable statistics, including 275 points, 225 rebounds, and 30 steals. Her accomplishment puts her in elite company, matching records set by players like Yolanda Griffith.
Reflecting on her season so far, Reese commented, “It’s great for me, being able to know where I’m at right now and obviously I’m not satisfied where I’m at. I have coaches and teammates around me that believe in me and trust me and I just continue to just trust the process of everything. I’m grateful. I’m blessed and lucky to be named with these amazing players.”
Reese’s journey includes not only breaking records but also earning recognition alongside seasoned stars like Candace Parker, whom she admires and seeks to emulate on and off the court.
“She has gotten really, really good at finishing around the rim, getting our offensive rebounds and putbacks or just simply getting positioned in our offensive sets and just finishing and finishing with power around the rim. So it’s really, really good to see. She’s only going to get better as we move forward.”
Ranked as the No. 7 draft pick following a standout collegiate career, Reese has quickly established herself as a force in the league. Recently named a 2024 All-Star alongside Caitlin Clark, Reese continues to shine bright as a frontrunner in the Rookie of the Year race.
Teammate Marina Mabrey praised Reese’s contributions, highlighting her physicality and work ethic, essential traits for a rookie in a highly competitive league.
Despite the Sky’s recent loss, Reese’s achievements have positioned them well in the playoff race, currently holding the eighth spot in the standings.
Angel Reese’s record-breaking performances are not only a testament to her talent but also a source of inspiration for fans and teammates alike. As she continues to make her mark in the WNBA, Reese’s journey promises to be one filled with determination, growth, and future triumphs.
