With the NBA draft drawing near, it’s guaranteed that Ron Holland’s family will be supporting him from the sidelines. It’s not only his skill in basketball that has made him famous, but also his contagious energy and readiness to risk his body.
Ron’s parents, Tarasha and Ron Sr., were hesitant at first about allowing him to play tackle football, choosing flag football when he was three years old. However, as Ron got older, his passion for contact sports only grew stronger, much to the disappointment of his parents.
“I believe we were doubtful,” Tarasha remembered. As a young person who was not of legal age, we were uncertain if he was prepared for sports that involve full contact.
Unbeknownst to them, Ron would emerge as one of the most formidable high school basketball players in Texas history. His bold style of play resulted in him being seen by his coaches and teammates as a formidable presence.
Duncanville coach David Peavy stated that Ron is a bit insane. “He had minimal concern for his own welfare.”
Where will Ron Holland play next? 🤔
As Holland’s #NBADraft moment nears, here’s something he can count on: Duncanville has his back.
“Ron’s just not a former player,” David Peavy said. “He’s definitely family.” 💙❤️

That is a great compliment coming from someone who knows Ron very well. Peavy, accompanied by assistant coaches Jay Cosme and Charles Hill, will be present at the NBA draft on Wednesday, eagerly anticipating the moment when Ron’s name is announced.
Cosme, who has been crucial in Ron’s growth as a player, characterized him as someone who is ready to put his body on the line without worrying about the consequences. Ron stands out from other players because of his fearless attitude.
Cosme stated that he constantly goes at a speed of 100 miles per hour. “He has a knack for it.”
Ron’s colleagues agreed with those feelings, attributing his determination and courage as crucial elements in their team’s achievements. During his time at Duncanville High School, as a senior, Ron guided the team to several state championships and established many records that continue to be surpassed.
With a promising NBA career ahead, Ron is now ready to make history again. Being chosen in the initial round of the draft would make him the second Duncanville graduate in a row to accomplish this, after Anthony Black was drafted sixth by the Orlando Magic the previous year.
As the moment of truth draws near, Ron’s family is preparing for what may be a memorable evening. Tarasha and Ron Sr., accompanied by ex-coaches Neiman Ford and Corey Johnson, will be present to cheer on their son and friend as he joins the ranks of the top basketball players globally.
Cosme mentioned that it is a significant occasion for the Duncanville family. We make an effort to appreciate this moment and not overlook its significance. At this moment, it is Ron’s time to shine.
It will be such an incredible moment. With his boundless vigor and unwavering love for the sport, Ron Holland is prepared to conquer the world – one slam dunk at a time.
